The popular Phalaenopsis is a staple on shop shelves. However, the range of orchids is constantly expanding. We have picked out a few exotic varieties that you should definitely include in your range.
Full and lush
Cymbidium bears no resemblance to a classic orchid due to its generous amount of grass-like foliage. This makes it a lovely, lush houseplant, from which one or more stems emerge bearing a series of beautiful cup-shaped flowers.
Graceful and variegated
Paphiopedilum has spotted green leaves, which makes this plant very attractive even without flowers. However, the flowers are also impressive: reddish-brown, yellow or green, with beautiful markings and an elegant shape.
Photogenic and classic
Cattleya is a tropical orchid that is very photogenic thanks to its beautifully undulating petals. Some varieties have a wonderful fragrance, which has earned it the nickname ?Queen of the Orchids?.
Striking colours
Zygopetalum grows on tree stumps, rocks and on the forest floor amongst leaves. The flowers are reddish-purple, greenish-brown and sometimes almost blue. Zygopetalum is one of the smallest orchid families: only 15 species are currently known.
