Every few weeks, we put one of our growers in the spotlight. This time, we introduce The Mastergrowers.
With over a century of experience with classic indoor hydrangeas, The Mastergrowers have mastered the art of cultivation down to the last detail. Their drive to continuously elevate this heritage has resulted in many interesting innovations. Think of standard, unstaked cultivation, heat-resistant varieties, refined shapes and colours, exceptionally long flowering periods, re-blooming and increasingly sustainable cultivation and packaging.
Sustainability also means longevity
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important everywhere. For The Mastergrowers, this primarily means hydrangeas that last a long time. This is because the cultivation at this grower is already almost 100% organic, partly due to the in-house breeding of strong, innovative varieties. Thanks to these varieties, stakes and protective sleeves are no longer necessary, saving almost 90,000 kilograms of materials. Their focus is therefore even more on long blooming times and clear care information for their hydrangeas. This makes them Crafted for Life – beautiful, strong and sustainable.
Crafted for Life together with consumers
Their recent research in collaboration with Royal Flora Holland and Plant & Flowers Foundation Holland, among others, supports this focus: longevity is the third purchasing criterion for hydrangea buyers. This requires not only strong varieties, but also the right care after purchase. Research has shown that 71% of consumers would place the plant in direct sunlight. 45% think that a hydrangea needs little water and 31% of hydrangea buyers do not know how long a hydrangea remains in bloom. In addition, 33% indicate that they cannot find care information in the store. To change this, The Mastergrowers have developed a consumer tool themselves. A QR code on the new pots and labels leads to the online tool with practical care information and an extensive AI chat function. This answers questions about the benefits and care of hydrangeas in any language.

The range for the coming season has been carefully selected. In addition to the familiar Magical hydrangeas and the high-quality, unstaked standard of the Pure Collection, there is also a wide choice of innovative newcomers.
Everlast
The Everlast collection is the latest heat-resistant hydrangea collection. These plants remain resilient and beautiful for longer in warmer weather, whether in the greenhouse or outdoors. This means less waste on the shelf and longer enjoyment for the consumer. Additionally, they have an indoor flowering period of no less than 120 days. The Everlast collection is almost 100% organically grown and includes varieties such as the Hi Ice, Hi Diamond and Hi Ocean.
