Holstein Flowers – Gerbera in their DNA

Holstein Flowers is a close-knit family business. The love of gerberas has been deeply rooted in their DNA for many years now. Father Henk van Holstein started as a grower in 1946, and his sons joined the company one by one.

They started cultivating gerberas in 1974. Meanwhile, the third generation has now joined them at the helm. With almost 11 hectares spread between two locations, Holstein Flowers has developed into one of the largest gerbera growers in the world.

Grower and breeder

Holstein Flowers not only grows gerberas, but is also involved in breeding them. They create showstoppers with surprising shapes, sizes, colours or improved quality. More than 85% of their gerbera varieties are the result of in-house breeding. They extensively test new varieties for vase life, colour, firmness and shape, because only the very best gerbera varieties deserve a place in the Holstein collection!

Focus on sustainable cultivation

As the market leader, Holstein Flowers keeps a close eye on market developments. In the field of sustainability they are also always taking steps forward. They are fully committed to cultivating their cheerful and colourful gerberas as sustainably as possible. This is done in a variety of ways: from LED lighting to solar panels, and from geothermal energy to biological crop protection. This attention for nature conservation comes naturally to them. After all, the gerbera is a dazzling creation of Mother Nature!
