Colors of Sentinel, green happiness

Sentinel grows nine different varieties of Scindapsus and introduced a new variety in November 2021: Global Green. This variety is characterised by its stunning green colour and combines robustness with elegance.

Sentinel's employees grow vigorous and healthy plants in their nursery in Sprang-Capelle, the Netherlands. Their aim is to supply high-quality plants. That’s why they pay a lot of attention to quality management and work in accordance with ISO standards.

A company with African roots

Although their plants take root in their own greenhouses in Sprang-Capelle, the majority of their cuttings come from Uganda in Africa. Since 2019, there has been a close cooperation in several areas with a cuttings production company under Dutch management. This allows them to respond quickly to changing market conditions. What's more, African climate conditions during the winter months are ideal for producing healthy cuttings.

Sustainability is paramount

Sustainability is also important to Sentinel. They carefully monitor their water usage and all their water is recycled. Solar panels on the roof generate 20% of the total electricity requirements, ensuring they keep their energy consumption low. Because they use LED lighting, they also require less power. In addition, the plants stay healthy with the use of natural products. The company treats its employees in their nursery in Sprang Capelle and in the sister nursery in Uganda as they would want to be treated themselves.

Earlier this year, they also introduced a sustainable packaging line. It consists of a paper sleeve, a 6-hole paper tray and an open-top box for Danish trolleys. Thanks to this new packaging line, they expect to be able to save 20,000 kilos of plastic trays and 11,000 kilos of plastic sleeves every year!
