Feel the velvet

A 90’s trend which has made its comeback and is certainly here to stay. The soft and shiny character of velvet fabric has made its impact on plants. A plant collection that nowadays cannot be missed thanks to its rich, deep shine, warm and luxurious appearance. With leaves which make it hard to resist yourself from touching them.

Formerly velvet was used by the upper class in clothes and furniture. Due to its luxurious appearance and intensively manual labour it was an expensive fiber. While the velvet plants also look chic, it is more affordable than it used to be. Like the ‘Calathea Warscewiczii’, an elegant plant due to its velvet leaves with a pattern of light and dark green.

A velvet plant is an eyecatcher, a perfect element to compensate an interieur which is too modern. Its warm appearance can adjust the feeling of any space. The ‘Alocasia Micholitziana Frydek’ for example, will bright up the room. However, in a lively decorated area the ‘Philodendron Squamiferum’ is a better match. A modest, but unique plant with velvet stems, will bring its peace to the room.
