Artistic artichoke

The artichoke is a source of inspiration for many painters and is regularly depicted as a still life on canvas. Its bulbous shape and pointed leaves, which vary from green to purple and burgundy, can be recognized from thousands and are even more beautiful in real life than on a painting.

However, this flower is not only beautiful on canvas, as it also steals the show on your plate and in a bouquet.

Most people know the artichoke as a Mediterranean dish, where the flower is served gracefully and is eaten by pulling off the leaves one by one and scraping them empty with your teeth. However, the love for this flower does not only go through the stomach, it also is a feast for the eyes when in a vase. This thistle-like, with a diameter up to 15 centimetres, is an imposing flower and catches the eye both in pairs in a vase or combined with other types of cut flowers. As if this isn’t enough, there are also flowering artichokes, with purple sprites appearing, reminiscent of a sea anemone. This creates a playful effect and adds an extra touch of colour to any bouquet.

Both green and blooming, this flower is an artistic addition to make a bold bouquet. View our range of artichokes below.
