Out and about with our outdoor Hunters

Curious about our Hunters and what plants they are searching for? Then read on to find out more about Sybren, Marie and Ed, three of our dedicated Hunters.

Every day we have dedicated Hunters out ‘in the field’, visiting our growers daily to bring you a unique range, which is often still unavailable online. Thanks to our Hunter page, you also get the chance to surprise your customers with a unique assortment. We hit the road with three of our Hunters to get a look behind the scenes.

Sybren
Our first Hunter, Sybren, spends a lot of time abroad during his quest for outdoor hunts. ‘I travel about four days a week from the Netherlands to Germany, then on to Italy and sometimes to Spain, where I search for beautiful plants with a cool look. I mainly hunt for seasonal products, like citrus in summer and Calluna in autumn. The frequent travelling and visits to growers makes my work very varied and interesting.’

Marie
Hunter Marie lives in Germany, placing her right at the source with local growers. ‘I mainly focus on plants grown in the Rhein-Maas region, such as Antirrhinum. There are so many growers here that I have made a selection of only the very best, whom I visit regularly. When hunting, I always look for the best price-quality ratio and I also keep an eye out for special varieties that are not yet known to everyone.’

Ed
When Hunter Ed is out and about, he looks for garden plants that really stand out - beautiful to look at and of top quality. ‘I try to hunt something new every week, which keeps my work an exciting challenge. My hunts also feature rare products and items with competitive pricing. For me, it is always a game to put the right plants online at the right time, depending on the weather.’
