Midsummer flower wreaths have a long history of Swedish women wearing them since ancient times. They were originally part of pagan rituals and symbolised fertility and good fortune.
In addition to the wreath, a well-known tradition in Swedish folklore is to place seven different types of flowers under the pillow while sleeping. By doing this, it is said that you will dream of the person you will marry. For best results, it is said that you should pick the flowers while crossing seven fences – and do it all in complete silence.
Today, the making of flower wreaths is a tradition that lives on, and many look forward to wearing one each year to complete their Midsummer outfit!
