Ubink cactus & succulent
Every few weeks, we put one of our growers in the spotlight. This time, we are shining the light on Ubink.
Ubink is a proud family-run nursery that has specialised in cacti and succulents for nearly 100 years. Under the leadership of brothers Gert, Edwin, and John, the company has grown into a leading grower in Europe in the field of cacti and succulents. Meanwhile, the third generation, consisting of Hanneke and Bas Ubink, has now also joined the business.

Sustainability
Ubink’s modern greenhouses in Kudelstaart cover 60,000 m², and the company also operates a 120,000 m² production site on sunny Tenerife. They strive to keep their cultivation as energy-efficient and environmentally friendly as possible. Sustainability is a core focus for this grower. This is evident, for example, in their use of solar panels, which provide the entire company with self-generated electricity. By growing in sync with the seasons, gas usage is kept to a minimum. In addition, biological pest control is used as much as possible with the cultivation of their plants: beneficial insects to combat harmful ones. Ubink is working towards a completely gas-free and organic method of cultivation in the future.
