Shining (Christmas) stars

December 12 is Poinsettia Day. Although bright red poinsettias (also known as Christmas stars) are the most popular, they are actually available in a whole range of colours including apricot, maroon, creamy white, salmon, orange, pink and several other shades of red.

According to a 19th-century tradition, giving a poinsettia can be interpreted as a token of appreciation. Who wouldn't like to receive such a gift?
