Get creative with the French Tulip

We all know the regular tulip, but have you heard of a French tulip? This tulip has a long, strong and elegant stem with large, shapely flowers, and continues to grow in the vase. Because of its height, this tulip is particularly suited to be used in spring flower art. Let’s take a look!

A regular tulip is around 30-40cm, but a French tulip can grow as tall as 90cm. It is a much heavier specimen and has beautiful, voluptuous flowers. No wonder it’s this particular tulip that inspired the old Dutch Masters! These quirky flowers continue to grow in the vase, and might start hanging their heads with a flair of drama if the vase is too small. This can be a lovely sight, but you can also choose a taller vase or use the tulips in a creative floral bouquet. Place them in a bowl with other spring flowers and branches, or curl them into a smaller, transparent vase. French tulips have a long vase life, so you can enjoy your spring bouquet for a long time to come.

At Noviflora, you can find single and double flower, as well as parrot tulips. The available colours vary from white, pink and purple to yellow, salmon and red. French tulips are not a year-round product, and are available up until May. After May, you’ll have to wait until December to get your hands on these tall beauties.
